Face Liposuction – Costs, Risks And Alternative Solution
A face liposuction is a facial liposuction or the removal of accumulated fat through surgery that is limited to the cheeks and front of the ears to reshape the facial appearance. Due to the thinness of the skin in this area, ordinary vacuum assisted liposuction or lipoplasty is not recommended. The surgeon could just as easily damage the patient’s appearance rather than improve on it since achieving complete symmetry with this procedure is almost impossible.
The most common side effect in this procedure includes swelling, infections and adverse reactions to the medicine used for the surgery including anesthesia. In some cases, skin necrosis, seroma or hematoma could occur. There is also the possibility of some other organ on the face being punctured by the vacuuming tool, causing excessive bleeding or organ damage. In a face lipoplasty, fluid retention from the fluids used is not a major concern due to the small area being operated on, but the possibility must not be discounted completely.
Under the conditions related to face liposuction, contouring and controlling irregularities becomes a major issue. So in order to shape the cheeks more accurately, the surgeon uses a cutting cannula called a liposhaver. Recent developments show that the use of ultrasound devices to liquefy the fat externally dramatically reduces the chances of infections and the wide area covered by such a device also reduces the amount of irregularities.
As with all plastic surgery, the cost of face liposuction will depend on the extent of the procedure to be done, the number of times it will be done, and clinic involved. Usually the total cost will vary from $2,500 to $4,500. The time required to perform the procedure varies between 30 minutes to two hours, depending on the manner in which the anesthetic is introduced into the area.
Candidates for face liposuction are especially warned about going to a reputable and well respected surgeon for the surgery. Inexperienced surgeons are more likely to make mistakes and these mistakes are especially evident when it is done on the face. One must also be aware that cosmetic surgery is often not covered by medical insurance.
The only other non-surgical alternative is to use facial exercises to tone the skin, and hopefully tighten it to achieve a more youthful look. Some creams also claim to have positive effects. Unfortunately, this will not achieve the desired sculpting effect that can be done through facial liposuction and not all creams sold in the market are effective in doing what they are supposed to do.
With dozens of products being advertised and sold on the market, ranging from the organic creams to “manufactured” creams, it becomes a daunting task to find one that will work effectively on a particular patient. This is why facial exercises have been used for such a long time; it is because they work.
For all the dangers, complications and high cost associated with cosmetic surgery procedures, face liposuction remains the popular choice among people wishing to achieve that youthful look because the result of a successful face lipoplasty is often dramatic. Patients can achieve a youthful look in a relatively short time, which generally enhances self-esteem and renewed confidence.
Even so, it is still recommended that any person considering a face liposuction should have a realistic approach to the procedure and must be aware and prepared for the consequences resulting from its failure or success.
One must not rely too heavily on this procedure to be a success because even when it is, it will not change other people’s opinion of him or her.
